2026/27 OPERA THEATRE AUDITIONS

Audition for JMU’s upcoming operas: Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf? And The Magic Flute.

Detailed information about roles will be posted on Canvas and the Opera Theatre bulletin board next to Prof. Borths’s office (Room 339). 

Sign up for one 10-minute time slot and try to keep these grouped together if at all possible. Auditions will be held in room B71.

For these auditions, please plan to sing two memorized selections: 1) Classical aria or artsong 2) Song of your choice. Please Note: If auditioning for a main/featured role, please have one of these selections be in German. You may sing an aria from The Magic Flute if you have prepared it; however, this is not required.

Please wear clothes appropriate for an audition: look your best while still having freedom of movement to act and feel comfortable. If you are unsure if what you’re planning to wear is appropriate, ask an upperclass  JMU Opera Theatre student.

Finally, please plan to arrive at your audition a little early in case we are running ahead.
